When using the TrailFlex Modular
Pack System, the load should be carried on hips and not on shoulders.
Shoulder straps are for balance and stability, not load carrying. This
reduces strain on back, prevents pressure on muscles and nerves in shoulders,
and allows for better balance by lowering center of gravity. Please note
that TrailFlex shoulder straps, when properly positioned, should feel
snug but not tight.
It's important to make final sizing adjustments to TF Base Harness
before use. This will ensure proper fit and maximum comfort. Please
follow these instructions to custom-fit the TF Base Harness
to your body.
Adjusting the Harness to Fit
Your Body
1) Lay the TF Base Harness on a flat
surface. Open Velcro securing fitting channels on waist belt and leave
open. Loosen all straps – waist
straps, lumbar straps, shoulder straps.
2) Put on Harness like a vest. Position waist belt
so that lumbar pad settles comfortably at bottom of back resting on top
of hips. Adjust waist belt by pulling strap. Waist belt should feel snug
but not tight.
3) Pull lumbar straps so lumbar support hugs base of back. It should feel
snug but not tight. This will provide support and comfort during use.
4) Adjust Harness to fit your torso length. Adjust
by pulling apart Velcro back section connecting top shoulder section
to bottom waist belt section. Re-attach Velcro sections at length where
it is most comfortable when standing upright. This may be easier if you
have someone helping you. (Medium Torso can be adjusted to fit torso
length 15-19 inches; Long Torso fits torso length 19-23 inches.)
When properly adjusted, back section should be lightly touching back and
not drooping outward. Waist belt should still be sitting comfortably on hips
and not pulling up. Shoulder straps should rest comfortably on shoulders
and not feel tight. Proper adjustment of torso length is important to ensure
comfortable fit.
5) Adjust height of sternum strap by moving AMT connectors
on the shoulder straps to height that is most comfortable – usually
in middle of chest. Snap sternum strap together.
6) Adjust shoulder straps by pulling down on tabs.
Remember, shoulder straps are not designed to carry load, only to provide
balance and stability. Shoulder straps should be snug but not tight.
7) Finally, it’s important to fine-tune the
fit of your TF Base Harness to ensure maximum comfort and
hours of comfortable use. To achieve the perfect fit, follow these steps:
-
Lengthen or shorten waist belt
-
Lengthen or shorten lumbar straps
-
Lengthen or shorten torso height by pulling apart and re-attaching the Velcro back sections
-
Adjust sternum strap height
-
Lengthen or shorten shoulder straps
8) After fine-tuning, place waist belt straps and lumbar
straps into Fitting Channel, fold flaps over straps and press to attach
Velcro.
Please remember that everyone is built differently and it may take a little time
to achieve best possible fit of your TrailFlex Modular Pack System. You may
also find that it's necessary to re-adjust the fit when switching between garments
for cold and warm weather. Your TF Base Harness is now ready to use!
You may attach backpack, waist pack and other optional pouches and attachments
in whatever configuration you choose.
